Course Description


The Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology at Royo College of Medical and Health Sciences is a 3-year program designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to work as laboratory technologists. Graduates play a critical role in healthcare by conducting laboratory tests, diagnosing diseases, and analyzing medical samples in hospitals, research laboratories, and diagnostic centers.

Admission Requirements



To enroll in this program, applicants must meet the following minimum KCSE requirements:

โœ… Mean Grade: C (Plain) or higher

โœ… English/Kiswahili: C (Plain) or higher

โœ… Biology: C (Plain) or higher

โœ… Chemistry: C (Plain) or higher

โœ… Mathematics/Physics: C- (Minus) or higher



These requirements align with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) regulations.



Course Content



Students will learn essential aspects of medical laboratory science, including:

๐Ÿฆ  Microbiology & Parasitology – Identifying bacteria, viruses, and parasites in medical samples

๐Ÿงฌ Clinical Chemistry & Biochemistry – Testing body fluids for metabolic and chemical disorders

๐Ÿ”ฌ Histopathology & Cytology – Studying tissue samples for disease diagnosis

๐Ÿ›ก Infection Control & Laboratory Safety – Best practices to prevent contamination and maintain safety in the lab



The course includes compulsory clinical attachments in hospitals and diagnostic centers to provide hands-on experience.
